You have done nothing wrong, you sad old fucker. This whole drama seems to have run its course and most folks are now just bored with the whole thing and have moved on. Even myself, who took brief refuge in the arms of another, have noticed a marked reduction in any hostilities and once again feel more than comfortable being here with you fuckers. Just the fact that I can use the word "fuckers" without the fear of condemnation from those gathered here vs. what fear and loathing I may inspire "over there" is one of the reasons I love it here. The whole "2" issue seems to have died a natural death and we are better for it. I hope this whole Cliff issue will also pass away. Cliff has excellent insight and has pointed me to many excellent shows. Yes, he is emotional and may have gone a little too far, but who are we to judge? I'd like to think that we will no longer done the robe and powdered wig of a barrister and get back to the family discussions I hold so dear. Onward and upward.

the hostilities shall not cease until all Yankee fans have been shunned and banned from this forum!

(sadly, that means my friend Arb must go too - but such is the price of war)

Not wishing to appear even more of a sad old fucker than I already am, I have to say that I’d welcome seeing you make regular appearances around here once more. It’s really not the same without you to bandy words with.

I realise absolutely that the whole Cl2ff thing is old and stale for just about everybody, but that post of Cliff’s that I mentioned raised a flicker of doubt in my mind that I wanted to try and clear up. If I’ve done somebody wrong I’d like to fix it if I can. Trying to make direct contact with Cliff was just me trying to keep this out of the public domain, as the public don’t really want to know, no more.

Onward and upward indeed.

Well, I want to add that in fact some of us have been going sideways, since by going 'over there' we are horizontally mobile rather than vertical...I suppose at least it's a good thing that we aren't going backwards, though at our age SDH and GOP and I long to do so.

Bandy words, you say? Be careful what you wish for. I've got a brand new thesaurus and I'm not afraid to us it.

Yes, I too have missed the verbal fencing of the past, perhaps that can be revived as the negativity passes away. Circle of life and all that good shit.

Which reminds me, I'm heading up to Moab, Utah in a couple of weeks for a few days in the desert wonder up there. My good friend and long time drinking companion will be there (he now lives in Hanover, New Hampshire and I don't get to see him as often as I'd like). Well, I have already obtained a bottle of Laphroaig and another of The Macallan to help pass the evenings (I honestly can't recall his preferance, so I figured I'd cover my bases). As we sit on a rocky outcropping watching the desert sun glowing like orange hued fire as it descends over the other-worldly landscape, I promise I shall raise a glass to you, good sir.

Hey SDH, not sure of your route, but if possible, turn east off 89 (IR 160, toward Tuba City) and go thru the 'real' Monument Valley (IR 163) and you will be rewarded.

If you haven't been thru it before, trust me--it will impress. First there in 1970, and had some of my first mind altering experiences there. I even saw John Wayne and John Ford.

Unforgettable.

Definitely on the trip planner, one of the most beautiful places in the entire Southwest, if not the country. Was there in 1976 with the family, but this one is a "Man Trip": no wives or kids allowed. Most of our time will be up in the park on the White Rim Trail in the Island in the Sky area (we are travelling in two old GMC Jimmy 4x4s equipped for rock climbing) for at least 2 or three nights away from civilization.

"this place needs colorful mobile emoticons"

I'll say; they really are addictive.

Sad, but true. That little banana guy is too much.

I may get banned from here for saying it, but there you have it. All the evidence necessary.

Hey! Who are you calling 'little??!!'

He's NOT my 'little banana guy' (GOP started it, and SDH called him on it, but truthfully, I then went wild with him...ahem, in a purely 'posting' kind of e way...but in my defense, it was in the context of Donovan--Mellow Yellow--so it was in some small way, appropriate!).

Patrick - I hope your trip is a wonderful one. I hope also that you'll be able to post up a pic or two on your return so unfortunates such as myself can see what we've been missing.

I have a bottle of 55 per cent proof Martinique rum brought back from France that verges on the hallucinogenic - I'll tip a glass back at you.

Have you noticed how this Cliff thread seems to have some old friends chatting away of this and that like we used to do? Most excellent!

(Oh yeah.. wasn't there some band or other we were supposed to mention now and then? Oh I know, The Gratefruit Whatchamacallits - Eyes of the World 6-9-76 - damn fine!)
